Hi Everyone!
This week has been amazing. I can't believe all that's happened, and I only have an hour to write about it! I finally understand why most missionary emails are so short. The struggle is real.
My companions are Sister Brayton and Sister Balls-Barker. (We're in a tripanionship, so we're cool.) Sis. Brayton's from Provo, she's going to my same mission, and she lived in St. Petersburg for 4 months and taught kids English, so she's almost pro Russian. (Not quite, but she's really good.) Sis. Balls-Barker's from Minnesota, she's going to Seattle, Washington, and she is way smart. She wants to be a math major, and she's learning the Russian so quickly. I can't keep up with these two sisters!
There are lots of other Russians here, going to all different places. I've seen lots of people from home, like Sister Baird, Sister Bakker, Sister Sands, Sister McKell, and Sister Stockwell. We're all having a blast. The Elders are so funny. They have the best stories. They made a hammock out of their sheets in their room and actually slept in it, and they made a sauna in the bathroom. Those silly elders!
Our teachers speak only in Russian, so that's been hard because I'm not sure if I even understand them. I think I do. But Russian's way hard because the alphabet is different. I'll get it eventually, though. We've been teaching our first investigator, Lena. She's "from" Samara, and she has been so receptive to us. She's read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, and she said she felt peace and warm. Next time we're going to ask her to be baptized, so hopefully she says yes!
I've learned a lot here about teaching with the Spirit. Even if I can't understand everything Lena says, I can still bear my testimony and the Spirit will be there, and that's what teaches her. I know this will be so important for the rest of my mission.
I wish I had more time, but, you know, exact obedience. I'd love to hear from anybody who wants to write, and I hope I'll get more time next week! i'll also try to share more funny stories, because those are just fun to talk about. I'm having such a great time, and hope you all have a great week! :)
